By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds.
1 Corinthians 3:10
My husband works in commercial construction, some of the photos he brings home makes me wonder if I want to step foot in many of the buildings we take for granted are safe everyday. Crumbling balconies, walls that are falling apart, moldy carpets, and these are the things that they can see without special equipment. Owners of these places want a quick fix for the lowest price often even if it means not doing all the work necessary or just patching the worst things.
I often think about how hard it is to parent my children, how much work it is. That it is a never ending battle to keep their schedules straight. To keep them on task, to keep rooms clean (ha!), to stop them from fighting or bickering and I wonder if I am the best person for this job. Did God know what He was doing when He gave these children this mother? Because sometimes I see crumbling balconies and walls that are falling apart. Then I am reminded that our life is built on a firm foundation of Christ it is crazy for this day or season but it is not falling apart. Storms may come but our Foundation will not fail us; He will keep us safe and strong.
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. (Prov. 14:1 NIV)
